We are on a mission to make learning about money more approachable and fun.
Our goal is for future generations to be more comfortable and confident with money.
Finance and money are complicated. They require an understanding of complex concepts, and frequent decision making that isn’t always black and white. Finance is one of the few topics that’s not just driven by knowledge, but by emotions and behaviors. Every day we make decisions about money. And research says that our relationship with money, and how we behave as individuals, is greatly influenced by our past experiences.
So how do we help our kids experience money today, in a way that successfully sets them up for the future?
It started with three kids and zero good options.
Jennifer Budig is a mom of three and the founder of Finance-y. She's also spent her career at places like Dow Jones (The Wall Street Journal) and CHANEL, bringing creativity and real-world thinking to everything she touches.
But when it came to teaching her own kids about money? She hit a wall.
The books were boring. The apps were overcomplicated. The advice online assumed she had a finance degree. She wanted something simple, something hands-on, something her kids would actually enjoy. And it just didn't exist.
So she asked around. Turns out, hundreds of other parents were stuck in the same spot—wanting to teach their kids about money, but not knowing where to start.
That's when she decided to build the thing she wished existed.
Finance-y: Learning through play, not pressure
Finance-y is a quarterly subscription box filled with games, stories, crafts, and activities that teach kids about money the way they actually learn—by doing. No textbooks. No lectures. Just hands-on experiences that turn everyday moments (trading, saving, choosing) into lessons that stick.
Jennifer worked with experts across finance, education, and child psychology to create something different. Something that doesn't feel like school. Something kids ask to do again.
Each box is designed for a specific age group, so the content grows as your child grows. And it's built for parents and kids to explore together—because the best money lessons happen in conversation, not isolation.
The result?
Curious, confident kids who feel at home making money decisions. And parents who realize they didn't need to be finance experts after all—they just needed the right tools.
Countless hours of research and conversations with financial experts, educators, child psychologists, parents, grandparents and kids all pointed to the same key themes – learning about money needs to:
-
1
Start Young
-
2
Happen At Home
-
3
Be Active & Fun
-
4
Feel Approachable
-
And so Finance-y was born!
We look forward to being in your home and helping build your kids' money knowledge with our strategically built curriculum that grows with them.
We can’t wait to see future generations be a little more Finance-y!

How many boxes are available right now?
Finance-y is in the early stages of rolling out the full suite of products. We have launched with the start of the 6-8 year old age bracket boxes, and will be consistently releasing more. Soon you will be able to sign-up for an alert when the age bracket you are interested in becomes available. We appreciate your patience and support as we grow!
Do parents have to be involved?
Yes! And that is key to the success of the Finance-y experience. Finance-y is built to be a parent-child interaction in the younger age brackets, becoming a more independent experience at the older age brackets. 99% of parents we surveyed told us they want to interact with their child as they learn about money and finance. In addition, research shows that parents talking about money with their kids when they are young contributes to their financial literacy in the future.
I don’t know much about money. How can I be the one to help my child?
We love this question! And you’re in good company. Almost half of parents we surveyed told us they do not consider themselves to be financially literate. Finance-y is made for you too! It will take you on the learning journey with your child. The parent-child interaction does not mean you are teaching them – you are just helping them navigate the materials. We include a parent guide in all the boxes, so if you have questions, we try to have all your answers! Finance-y is designed for parents regardless of knowledge. We are thrilled that you are here to help your kids be more confident in their financial literacy as they grow up! If anything comes up that you are not sure how to talk about, you can email us at help@finance-y.com. But you should also know that there aren’t any “right” answers. Just having conversations with your child about money (whether positive or negative) is a step in the right direction!
What happens after I purchase a box?
We will ship your box to the address provided within 7-10 business days of your order date. We will share tracking information once it has shipped for you to track estimated delivery timing.
Can I give Finance-y as a gift?
Of course! When you checkout, just check the box that acknowledges the shipping and billing addresses are different. You can then input a different shipping address from your billing address. Don’t forget to also check the box indicating it is a gift so that you can add a note!
